Saving the "SAVE" ACT
IT'S VITAL THAT WE DO IT.
As of the current date, a valid State or Federal-issued photo ID is required for the following actions, among others:
Buying alcohol, opening a bank account, applying for food stamps, welfare, Medicaid, and Social Security, renting or buying a house, buying or renting a car, flying on an airplane, getting married, purchasing a gun, adopting a pet, applying for a hunting or fishing license, renting a hotel room, buying a cell phone, going to a Doctor or Dentist’s office, gaining admitance to a hospital or clinic, picking up prescription medication, visiting a casino, holding a protest or rally, donating blood, purchasing mature-rated video games, purchasing tobacco, and applying for unemployment benefits. A photo ID helps prove identity and ensures compliance with legal requirements.
What proper photo ID is NOT required for, as of now, is voting in a local, state, or federal election. There, the “Honor System” apparently applies. Got a problem with that? I sure do!
To correct this problem, the Trump administration has proposed passing what is known as the “SAVE Act”. This is an acronym for
“Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act”
If passed, to vote in a federal election, an individual must provide:
A “REAL ID” compliant driver’s license or state ID that specifically indicates U.S. citizenship (available in all 50 states and the District of Columbia)
U.S. passport or passport card
Birth certificate issued by a U.S. state or territory
Certificate of naturalization or U.S. citizenship
Consular Report of Birth Abroad
Other government-issued proof, as determined by the states
Although this bill has passed in the House of Representatives, it is stalled in the Senate. Why?
According to detractors (mainly Democrats, but also some Republicans), the following groups would be negatively affected by its passage:
Married individuals who changed their names (especially women)
Young voters registering for the first time without passports
Elderly voters born before hospital birth certificates became standard
People of color (statistically less likely to have passports)
Low-income individuals unable to afford passport fees ($130-$165) or birth certificate costs ($15-$50)
None of this would be a serious problem if our country had maintained secure borders. However, for decades, especially from 2021 through 2024, it didn’t. As a result, something like 25 to fifty million people have entered our country illegally over the last 4 or five decades. Because some have lived here for a long time, does that make them American citizens? It shouldn’t.
What keeps our country functional is that we are supposed to be a country of laws, that EVERYBODY is supposed to abide by. When, for purely political reasons, some people are allowed to ignore portions of our laws, the system breaks down. A classic example of that is our immigration system.
The Democrats, as they demonstrated under Obama, and even more so under Biden, WANT illegals to enter, be given a fast track to citizenship, and then vote (PROBABLY FOR THEM). It is almost certain that some illegals already HAVE voted in our elections. The best way to continue that practice is to eliminate the requirement for proof of citizenship as well as residency at the polling places.
Frankly, if it isn’t important enough to you to spend the time and money to obtain a birth certificate, you SHOULD be denied the right to vote. Americans have rights, but they also have RESPONSIBILITIES! DO YOUR JOB, SENATORS!

Captain! I’m organizing with others in my city, state, and country for a better future. I’m asking if you’d be willing to participate in organizing a “vote rehearsal” - a get-together where people are offered fake candidates with real policy positions that relate to the current political climate, and are given a window of 1-2 hours to deliberate and mingle before voting on them.
